Getting the correct dimensions of your body is a critical part of getting the perfect fit and tailored look. Begin by standing with your feet and heels together. The bust measurement is taken right around the upper body and across the center of the breasts.
The waist is measured where you are the smallest, not where you wear low rider pants, and above the belly button. Bend to the side, where your middle indents, is your natural waist.
The hips are best measured by lookng in a mirror. Somewhere about 7″ below the natural waist and across the fullest part of your buttocks you will get the hip measurement. If you look at a side view of yourself in a mirror, you will be able to see where your hips are the widest.
Pull the tape close to your body–just not too tight. It’s best to have seam allowance to take in rather than a tight dress. Get someone to help if you are not confident with using the measuring tape; preferably a bridal consultant or experienced seamstress.
